How is College Football's #2 Rusher Shut Out of Postseason Award for Top Running Back?

According to Donnie Webb of the Syracuse Post-Standard, UConn football head coach Randy Edsall expressed his disappointment in Monday's Big East media teleconference call that tailback Jordan Todman was not in the list of 10 semifinalists for this year's Doak Walker award, which is given annually to college football's top running back.
“I’m extremely disappointed to tell you the truth,” said Edsall...“He’s the second leading rusher in the United States of America and doesn’t make the final 10 as a semifinalist? That’s unheard of. We’re all about team here and everything is about team. (But) the kid was a 1,000-yard rusher a year ago and now he’s over 1,000 again, played one less game and has played with an injury. It’s disappointing.
If you’re somebody voting, all you’ve got to do is go look at NCAA.org and go to statistics. If you can’t take the time to go see the statistics, then you shouldn’t be a voter. The statistics are there.”
Looks like he's got a point.  As Webb points out, Alabama's Mark Ingram is 38th in the country in rushing, yet he was named one of the semifinalists.  Wonder if the fact that he won the Heisman Trophy last year had anything to do with that one...
