Vikings Pro Bowler Has Name Misspelled On Jersey During Sunday's Game

In Sunday's home game against the Green Bay Packers, Kevin Williams of the Minnesota Vikings had their name misspelled W-I-L-L-A-I-M-S on the back of their jersey (see link below for story and photo).  This begs the obvious question:  HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?
  • It's not a rare name.  As Yahoo! Sports points out, Williams is the third most-popular last name in the country.
  • It's not a complicated name.  As also pointed out by Chris Chase, "the team has players on their roster with last names like Tahi, Kleinsasser, Shiancoe, DeGeare, Favre, Guion, Onatolu, Kluwe and Loeffler", yet those names were spelled correctly.
  • It's not like Williams just joined the team this week.  He has played for the Vikings for 8 years, and has made the Pro Bowl 5 times.
  • It's wasn't the first home game of the season!  It was the 5th home game.  This news wasn't reported after the other home games, so what happened?  Was it was spelled incorrectly for those and no one noticed?  More than likely, the name was spelled properly on the jersey for the other games, but it had to be replaced (for whatever reason) for this past game.  Would love to know the background story on this.  Something's strange here.
The Vikings fired head coach Brad Childress today.  Maybe they need to find themselves a new equipment manager as well.
