"Desperate Housewives" Star Doug Savant Needs To Re-Learn Little League Etiquette

This may just be common sense, but it usually goes without saying:  When it comes to Little League baseball, drinking beer at a game a bad idea, right?  Apparently one person who needs to be reminded of this is "Desperate Housewives" actor Doug Savant:
TMZ has learned [Doug] Savant was recently suspended by his kid's L.A. little league -- after a concerned parent noticed the actor secretly downing a brew out of a paper cup while in the stands.
We're told the parent in question confronted Doug -- calling him out for violating park rules -- and the poor guy had to face the Board of Directors soon after the incident.
There's a couple of bits to this story that make it even more inexcusable:
  • Doug Savant is president of the Los Angeles Little League.  Well, at least he was - he has been suspended, at least temporarily, from his post.  In theory, he would have been responsible for making sure parents abide by a "code of conduct", making sure to behave at their children's games.
  • Since Savant was drinking the beer out of a paper cup, he clearly knew he wasn't supposed to be doing it at a Little League game and was trying to cover it up.
In addition to having to explain this incident when he appears before the Little League Board of Directors, I wonder how he will explain this to his 10-year-old son.  It's embarrassing enough for any parent of a Little League player to be caught in that situation, and the additional publicity due to Savant's celebrity status can't help.

So this is a little reminder for the parents out there:  When it comes to being a Little League parent, alcohol is a no-no.
