Former Michigan Head Coach Rich Rodriguez Needs To Work On His Math Skills

Was reading the sports news this morning when this story caught my eye, from the AP via ESPN.  Rich Rodriguez went 16-22 as the Michigan football head coach over the last 3 years, so he expresses some disappointment about being fired.  Somehow he was seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and felt the worst was behind him, although most would feel that he deserved to be ousted.  However, the story had one quote from Rodriguez that I found very interesting:
"Heck, we had 24 starters coming back, and the player of the year in the league -- he's a sophomore and still learning. Recruiting, we thought it was going really well even with all the drama. That's the frustrating part about it is we didn't get a chance to finish the job," he said.
Does anyone else see what's wrong with this picture?  See, there are 11 starters on offense and 11 starters on defense.  Add it up and that makes 22, not 24.  Any football fan should know that, let alone a player or coach.  So what is he talking about?

Maybe the problem all along was that Rich Rodriguez can't do math.
