Video: Carlos Guillen Taunts Jered Weaver After Hitting Home Run

In the bottom of the seventh inning at Comerica Park in Detroit, Tigers seond baseman Carlos Guillen took his time at home plate admiring a home run ball he just hit, then taunted Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver by puffing his chest out towards the mound.

Weaver responded with the first pitch to the next Tigers batter, Alex Avila, by throwing a pitch over Avila's head.  Weaver was immediately ejected from the game.

There was no need for Carlos Guillen to showboat after the home run.  The slow start to his home run trot was bad enough as he admired his own home run, but was the showboating and taunting of the pitcher really necessary?  Isn't it enough that you just hit his pitch out of the park?  Have a little class, Carlos.

UPDATE:  It was announced Tuesday by Major League Baseball that Jered Weaver has been given a 6-game suspension and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing that pitch over Avila's head.  Weaver is appealing the suspension.  [ESPNLosAngeles.com]
