Things got a little awkward after Gael Monfils defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the first round of the US Open tennis tournament yesterday. After the post-match handshake, Dimitrov moved in close and tried to kiss Monfils on the lips.
Monfils backed away, undoubtedly caught off-guard by Dimitrov's unusual move. They were able to cover it up with a traditional European-style double-kiss on the cheeks, but must have been a little uncomfortable for both of them.
As Busted Racquet says "Dimitrov will doubtlessly be going for the handshake next time."
