Curt Schilling Throws Ceremonial First Pitch...Over Catcher's Head

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Arizona Diamondbacks 2001 World Series championship, the 2001 team was invited to celebrate before Saturday night's game against the San Diego Padres.

The 2001 World Series co-MVPs, pitchers Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  Randy Johnson's pitch was a good one, but Curt Schilling's pitch sailed over retired catcher Damian Miller's head.

We've had our share of terrible ceremonial first pitches this year ( John Wall and Doug Glanville come to mind), so Curt Schilling is not the first guy to throw a bad first pitch...and he certainly won't be the last.  However, this one does look worse than the others in a sense because Curt Schilling was actually a pitcher

Not just any pitcher, mind you.  As his introduction mentioned, he was one of the "aces" on the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks staff.  On top of that, if you include Curt's accomplishments with the Red Sox, Curt Schilling is actually considered by some to be worthy of being admitted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Schilling doesn't have an excuse for this.  Let's hope he does better next time...if he gets another chance.
