Video: Did Rays Fan Get Hit in the Groin By Dan Johnson's Ninth Inning Home Run?

There is no question that the game-tying home run hit by Tampa Bay Rays infielder Dan Johnson in the bottom of the ninth inning against the New York Yankees Wednesday night was one of the most exciting plays of the season in major league baseball.

What is in question, however, is whether a Rays fan in the front row of the right field seats was hit in the groin after Dan Johnson's home run ball bounced off of the foul pole.

It's clear that Johnson's home run ball bounces off the foul pole and hit the fan standing in the front row in the midsection. Since the fan is wearing a white shirt, the ball briefly blends in, so at full speed it's unclear exactly where the ball hits him. Based on the fan's reaction, and given the fact that he is a man, it's easy to assume that he took a shot in the nuts.

There are a few videos out there showing Johnson's home run shot. However, after looking at this specific Youtube video, which shows things a little more clearly, it looks like the home run ball may have hit the fan in the upper part of his right thigh, not in the groin. Still painful for the fan, but not as painful as it could have been if the ball hit him a few inches to the left.
