Video: ESPN Cameras Show Dirty Word on West Virginia Fan's T-Shirt

ESPN may have some explaining to do after their cameras showed a West Virginia fan with a strategically placed curse word between the "West" and "Virginia" on his shirt during their football game against Marshall.

It happened in the first quarter of tonight's game at Morgantown.  Marshall's Andre Booker scored the first points of the game by returning a punt 87 yards for a touchdown.  Naturally, ESPN wanted the viewers at home to see two sets of fan reactions to the play:  the Marshall fans and the West Virginia fans.  The Marshall fans were happy, as you would expect, and the hometown West Virginia fans were unhappy, as you would expect.

However, what was not expected by the ESPN camera crew, and the viewers at home was the inappropriate language on one WVU fan's shirt when they showed the West Virginia fans.  He was standing right in the front of the shot with a dark blue "West F***** Virginia" shirt for everyone to see, and the fan was on the air for a full two seconds before ESPN switched back to the players on the field celebrating.

Obviously this was not intentional on ESPN's part.  They probably already have 7-second tape delay in place so that the field microphones don't pick up any curse words.  However, they may need to consider some type of video "cleanup" so that curse words on T-shirts don't end up on TV.  Either that, or the camera crew should stay away from the student sections.  Did the cameraperson really not see the T-shirt right in front of them?

Stay classy, West Virginia.
