In a sad story, IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon died Sunday from injuries suffered in a major multi-car crash during the 12th lap of today's race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
ABC was airing a live camera shot from inside Wheldon's car when the crash began. It was obvious to everyone the seriousness of the crash as the red flag was waved.
The rest of the race was cancelled. Drivers did return to the track for a five-lap tribute to Wheldon, who was only 33 years old.
