Nuggets' Danilo Gallinari Misses Layup In Last Few Seconds Against Lakers That Would Have Tied Game (Video)

Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari had a chance to tie Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers with under 10 seconds left in the game. The Lakers had a two-point lead, 91-89, and Nuggets guard Andre Miller rebounded a missed shot by Kobe Bryant. Miller passed the ball ahead to forward Danilo Gallinari, who was in perfect position ahead of everyone on the court to receive the pass. It looked as though Gallinari was about to tie the game with an uncontested layup. Then, the unthinkable happened.

Gallinari's left-handed layup attempt bounced off the backboard and bounced on the rim a few times, but fell outside the rim into the hands of Bryant. Bryant made one of two free throws after being fouled with 1.6 seconds left to wrap up the win for the Lakers 92-89.

No question that Gallinari is going to be thinking about this missed opportunity for a while. We'll have to wait until the next game to see how he responds.

UPDATE: On New Year's Day in Denver, Gallinari scored 20 points to lead the Nuggets to a 99-90 win over the Lakers. So Gallinari got his revenge.
