Ump calls time on account of swirling dust (Video)

A strange moment occured during Monday's game in Philadelphia with the Phillies hosting the Miami Marlins when the home plate umpire had to call time out just as Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon was about to throw a pitch. The reason: a sudden gust of wind kicked up some dust behind the plate.

It happened in the top of the ninth inning with Marlins catcher John Buck at the plate. Papelbon had started his delivery when home plate umpire Chris Guccione called time on account of the dust that was swirling in front of home plate. Papelbon turned his pitch into an underhand lob that went straight up in the air.

Papelbon was able to strike out Buck, but the Phillies could not rally in the bottom of the ninth and lost to the Marlins 6-2.
