Substitute goalkeeper in Argentina steps onto pitch to stop goal (Video)

In a lower tier soccer match from Argentina, substitute Huracan Las Heras goalkeeper Fernando Espinoza stepped onto the pitch and knocked a shot away from the net with his hand, which would have been a sure goal for the opposing Union de Villa Krause.

Afterwards, Espinoza tried to walk away nonchalantly as if nothing had happened, while the Villa Krause players naturally freaked out after being robbed. Espinoza was given a yellow card and Villa Krause was awarded a corner kick in the Huracan end of the pitch, but that hardly seemed like enough of a punishment for Espinoza's blatant cheating.

It's rather curious that Espinoza was allowed to stand behind his team's net, rather than on the sideline, which is normal for just about all soccer matches of all levels. Standing there so close to the action must have been too tempting for Espinoza not to jump into the action. Of course, maybe Espinoza misunderstood the meaning of "backup goalkeeper" and took it a little too literally.

This play was reminiscent of an incident in Brazil last month where a ball boy snuck onto the field to stop a breakaway by the opposing team, then ran away.

H/T Dirty Tackle.
