Hector Sanchez fouls consecutive pitches off his leg (Video)

San Francisco Giants catcher Hector Sanchez had a very painful at-bat during the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs after fouling two consecutive pitches off his left leg.

Sanchez fouled the first pitch into his left shin just above his ankle. After getting checked out by the trainer, Sanchez sucked it up and got back into the batter's box. On the very next pitch, Sanchez fouled it off the middle of his left shin. After getting checked out by the trainer again, the Giants put a shinguard on Sanchez' leg so that he could finish the at-bat (although maybe one pitch too late). Sanchez got a well-deserved ovation from the stadium crowd for his toughness.

Not only did Sanchez finish the at-bat, but he stayed in the game as catcher behind the plate and helped Giants pitchers Barry Zito and Sergio Romo combine for a four-hit shutout of the Cubs in a 2-0 victory.
