Cody Eppley hit in noggin by toss from teammate Eric Chavez (Video)

New York Yankees pitcher Cody Eppley was hit right in the head accidentally by a toss from teammate Eric Chavez during Tuesday night's game at Comerica Park against the Detroit Tigers.

It happened after the Yankees recorded the second out of the sixth inning on a groundout by Tigers batter Jhonny Peralta. The Yankees tossed the ball around the infield, and Chavez tossed it back to Eppley. However, Chavez didn't realize until after he made the toss that Eppley wasn't ready for it, and Chavez tried to warn him to look up, but it was too late. As a result, the ball hit Eppley right in the noggin. Doink!

Fortuantely, it was not a hard toss and Eppley was OK. Yankees manager Joe Girardi came out to the mound with a trainer to make sure, and Eppley got a big laugh out of the situation. Rest assured, Eppley will be paying more attention next time the baseball is being tossed around the infield.
