Joba Chamberlain collides with Jose Reyes on forceful tag (Video)

New York Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain collided with Toronto Blue Jays batter Jose Reyes as he applied a tag for an out during the early game of a Tuesday doubleheader in the Bronx.

Joba Chamberlain collides with Jose Reyes
It happened in the ninth inning as Reyes hit a chopper towards first base. Chamberlain ran at full speed and picked up the ball a few feet from the first base line, then lunged to tag Reyes. While applying the tag, Chamberlain delivered a hit to Reyes with his shoulder that would have made football coaches proud.

Chamberlain fell to his knees upon impact, while the collision knocked Reyes off balance and out of the first base line. Reyes had to use some nifty footwork to keep himself on his feet.

Chamberlain had to be checked out by a trainer as he was accidentally poked in the eye by Reyes' hand on the collision, but stayed in the game for one more batter. The Yankees won the game 8-4.
