Rex Ryan skips Jets cut-down day to attend Clemson football game (Photos)

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan apparently skipped out of the team's final cut-down day activities Saturday to make a trip to South Carolina and watch his son Seth suit up for the Clemson Tigers in their college football season opener.

On a day when NFL head coaches are usually involved in critical personnel moves and saying goodbye to players, Rex was enjoying pregame tailgate parties and posing for pictures.

Rex's son Seth is a freshman walk-on wide receiver for Clemson and was active for the game, but did not play. In effect, Rex stepped away from the Jets on a day when critical roster decisions were being made so that he could watch his son stand on the sidelines for the entire game. Given the fact that Ryan is already on the hot seat and considered a lame duck coach by most people, it was a curious decision.

Ryan allegedly was in constant contact with Jets GM John Idzik throughout the day, keeping tabs on the personnel decisions being made. However, this move will have some questioning not only Rex's commitment to the Jets, but how much his influence has diminished within the front office.
