San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Aldon Smith kicked Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III in the groin during the third quarter of Monday night's NFL game at FedEx Field.
RGIII had just threw a short sideline pass to his receiver when Smith kicked his leg up and nailed Griffin in the ding-ding. Although it's hard to see how that could have been an accident, no penalty was called on the play.
RGIII went down and was clearly in pain, but was fortunate that the Redskins called for a challenge of the incomplete pass ruling, which gave him time to recover. The Redskins lost the challenge and were charged with a timeout, but RGIII was able to stay in the game without missing a play.
