Did Jason Heyward forget count during leadoff at bat? (Video)

Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward may have forgotten the count when he stayed at home plate after ball four during his leadoff at-bat in the first inning of Thursday night's game against the N.Y. Mets.

After Mets starter Jenrry Mejia threw four consecutive pitches outside the strike zone, Heyward prepared to take another pitch, before home plate umpire Gary Cederstrom had to explain to him that it was OK to walk to first. Heyward seemed a bit confused, but was happy to take his base.

Some broadcasters speculated that Heyward may have mistaken home plate umpire Gary Cederstrom's "ball" call with a "strike" call. That would seem to be a more plausible explanation than Heyward forgetting the count while being walked on four straight pitches. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt this time, as it's still early in the season.

Heyward didn't come around to score, and the Braves lost to the Mets 6-4.
