NHL linesman injured in collision during Rangers-Lightning Game 2

An NHL linesman had to leave Monday night's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals after suffering a sprained knee from a big hit along the boards.

It happened in the second period as linesman Brad Kovachik was standing on the blue line in front of the boards. Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Steven Stamkos was just a few feet away when he knocked New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein towards the spot where Kovachik was standing. Kovachik had no time to react and avoid the collision.

The game was delayed for five minutes as Kovachik was helped off the ice. Reserve linesman Greg Devorski served as Kovachik's replacement for the rest of the game.
