New Syracuse football turf features embarrassing grammar error (Photos)

The Syracuse Orange football team got off to a great start with a 47-0 victory over Rhode Island, but there were a few things exposed that need to be cleaned up, including an embarrassing grammatical error on their new home turf.

Back in 2009, the Carrier Dome field was named "Ernie Davis Legends Field" as a tribute not only to the 1961 Heisman Trophy winner, but also to all the other "legends who have competed for Syracuse athletics". This summer, the artificial turf was replaced with a new FieldTurf surface, and Friday night's home opener was the first time fans got to see it. It was only a matter of time before they discovered, on the 50-yard line below the big orange S logo, the words "Ernie Davis Legend's Field."

This follows the even more embarrassing gaffe this past winter when a jersey retirement ceremony was held for former Syracuse basketball legend Roosevelt Bouie, who was presented with a framed jersey with his name spelled incorrectly.

It's time for the Syracuse Athletic Department to have some answers. Why do these mistakes keep happening?
