A.J. Pierzynski spikes throw to second base (Video)

AJ Pierzynski spikes throw to second

Atlanta Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski suffered an embarrassing failure when he spiked a throw to second base as he slipped and fell during the second inning of Thursday night's game in Boston.

With one out and a Red Sox runner at first base, Pierzynski had trouble handling a pitch from pitcher Jhoulys Chacin. As Pierzynski chased it down, the Red Sox runner headed for second base. As Pierzynski tried to make a desperation throw to second, his feet slipped right out from under him, causing his throw to go straight into the ground.

Pierzynski has had his share of tumbles in recent years, so we're sure he'll find a way to get himself past this.
