French soccer match delayed when fans throw paper onto field (Video)

Friday's Ligue 1 soccer match between Lyon and Nice was delayed in the 70th minute after the home Lyon fans threw a massive amount of waste paper and leaflets onto the pitch.

Windy conditions spread the litter all over the field, making a real mess. The game was stopped as stewards were called upon to clean the field with leaf blowers and rakes.

Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes did his best to help out, although there was only so much one person could do:

Once play resumed, Lyon was able to score an equalizer to come away with a 1-1 draw. So, could it be said that the home team was helped by their fans littering the field? Let's hope this doesn't become a trend.

DISCLAIMER: Holdout Sports does not condone littering.
