Pierre-Emile Højbjerg sent off after flopping (Video)

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg flop

In Premier League action Saturday, Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the game for a blatant flop.

It happened in the 77th minute as Højbjerg was trying to dribble through two Leicester City defenders on the offensive end. It appeared that Højbjerg was more interested with drawing contact with the defenders than setting himself up for a good shot. Since the defenders were able to avoid contact with him, Højbjerg decided to fall to the ground as if he was pushed in an attempt to draw a penalty call.

The referee did not hesitate to call a penalty...on Højbjerg for simulation. As a result of the ejection, Southampton were forced to play with only ten men for the rest of the match.

The real sad part about this is that Højbjerg seemed to be in a good position to at least get a shot on goal, but he seemed to pass on it in a shameless display of poor sportsmanship.

In the end, in what was seemingly influenced by karma, Leicester City scored the game winning goal two minutes into injury time to win the match 2-1.
