Jamie Benn hit in throat by flying stick vs Sabres

Jamie Benn hit in throat by flying stick

Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn narrowly avoided a serious injury when an opponent's stick broke and hit him in the throat during Tuesday night's game against Buffalo.

It happened in the second period with the Stars holding a 1-0 lead as Benn was trying to interfere with a slapshot from Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. Ristolainen's stick broke in the half, and the top half went flying and got Benn right in the neck.

Fortunately, Benn escaped with only a small scratch on his neck.

Benn is no stranger to crazy plays, as just last month he was clotheslined by a referee.
