Florida Marlins second baseman Omar Infante had two home runs yesterday in Pittsburgh during a 13-4 victory over the Pirates last night. Infante's second home run could have been caught by Pirates outfielder Alex Presley, but the ball bounced off Presley's glove and over the wall in left field.
Infante hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning and came up again in the top of the third inning with two men on. He hits a fly ball to deep left field, which Presley is able to catch up to on the warning track. However, as Presley reaches up to catch the ball with his right hand, the ball bounces out of the heel of his glove and over the short left field wall. The play gave Infante a three-run home run, his second of the game.
Obviously Presley was disappointed, but considering that the Marlins got 22 hits against the Pirates last night, this particular play was not the difference in the game.
