Mike Milbury trashes Alex Ovechkin's play against Flyers (Video)

NBC Sports Network NHL analyst Mike Milbury completely trashed Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin for his lack of effort during Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

During the second intermission, Milbury said that Oveckin "should be ashamed of himself" for his "awful display of hockey" during the first two periods. Among the lowlights of Ovechkin's play that Milbury pointed out:
  • A blind pass from behind the Flyers net that he sent all the way down to his own net.
  • A "ridiculous embellishment" when trying to draw a penalty
  • Poor effort on a backcheck
  • A line change taken as the Flyers were scoring a goal.

The Flyers won the game 4-1.

  1. Milbury is absolutely correct. That was pathetic play by Ovie for the entire game. Anyone could see that he was completely bored to be on the ice. What message does that send to the team? For gosh sakes, someone PLEASE stand up to his lazy play and bench him. Trade him. At least rip off the C, he's clearly not a leader. I am a 14 year season ticket holder and a CAPS fan.
I like Oates and think he will get this turned around; but not with the lethargic play we saw last night.
