Diamond reportedly flew to Boston this morning from his home in Los Angeles and called the Red Sox before the game asking to sing "Sweet Caroline". Diamond sang with a live microphone over the original recording of the song, and although the timing was a little bit off, the crowd greatly appreciated Diamond's efforts, following the song with the chant of "USA!"
To top off the day, the Red Sox rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth with three runs and hung on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 4-3. Great day all around for the Red Sox fans.
