With the Boston Marathon bombing suspect being captured Friday night, Saturday's Boston Red Sox game was bound to be an emotional one. However, to make the day extra special, Neil Diamond himself came out onto the field in the middle of the eighth inning to lead Red Sox Nation in the singing their unofficial theme song "Sweet Caroline".Diamond reportedly flew to Boston this morning from his home in Los Angeles and called the Red Sox before the game asking to sing "Sweet Caroline". Diamond sang with a live microphone over the original recording of the song, and although the timing was a little bit off, the crowd greatly appreciated Diamond's efforts, following the song with the chant of "USA!"
To top off the day, the Red Sox rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth with three runs and hung on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 4-3. Great day all around for the Red Sox fans.
