Michael Wacha's hat blown off by gust of wind (Video)

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Wacha had his hat blown off by a strong gust of wind during the bottom of the second inning in Wednesday night's game against the New York Mets.

Wacha had just thrown an 0-1 pitch to Mets batter Trevor d'Arnaud, which was fouled off in front of home plate. As Wacha walked off the mound to get hit, his hat flew off and blew all the way to second baseman Mark Ellis, who scooped it up like an ordinary grounder. The gusts at Citi Field were as high as 31 miles per hour during the game.

The strange incident summed up the night for Wacha, who managed to set career highs with 10 strikeouts and 5 walks in only four innings. Wacha was charged with the loss despite only giving up 2 runs as the Cards lost the game 3-2.
