Bryce Harper booed by Phillies fans on Opening Day

Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper was booed by some of the hometown fans after his second strikeout on Opening Day of the 2019 season against Atlanta.

Things started out well as Harper saluted the Phillies fans as he took the field prior to the top of the first inning, taking a bow and pumping his fist. The Phillies fans welcomed him to Philadelphia with a standing ovation.

However, that goodwill was short-lived. After grounding out in the first, Harper struck out swinging in the fourth inning and again in the fifth. Apparently some impatient Phillies fans had seen enough.

Harper did manage to reach base in the seventh as he was intentionally walked to load the bases. The next Phillies batter, Rhys Hopkins, proceeded to hit a grand slam.

The Phillies won the game 10-4, and we think Harper will be just fine.
