Duke RB Jaylen Coleman pushes referee out of way during run vs. Temple

Jaylen Coleman pushes ref out of way during run, Temple vs. Duke, 9/2/2022
Duke Blue Devils redshirt junior running back Jaylen Coleman asserted himself during Friday night's football game against Temple by pushing a referee out of his way during a barreling 20-yard run.

It happened in the first quarter on the opening drive of the game. Coleman took the handoff and ran through a huge hole up the middle, picking up steam quickly and catching the umpire working the middle of the field off guard. The ref tried to backpedal out of the way, but wasn't able to move fast enough. As a result, Coleman pushed the umpire to the side, gaining about 10 more yards before being brought down by two tacklers. The umpire fell right to the ground.

It was kind of funny to watch, and even ACC Network commentators got a good laugh out of it, but we do hope the referee is OK. From the video, he did not appear to be seriously hurt.

As for Coleman, that's a heck of a way to start off the season. To top things off, Coleman capped off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to give Duke a 7-0 lead, and the rout was on as the Blue Devils took a 24-0 lead into halftime. The lead could have been bigger, but kicker Charlie Ham missed two field goals. [@TheScore]
