Toronto Blue Jays right fielder George Springer was tagged out while jumping up and down on third base during Sunday's game against the Athletics.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs and the A's leading 3-1. Springer was on first after hitting an RBI single with Vlad Guerrero Jr. on second base. Blue Jays batter Alejandro Kirk hit a double to left field that scored Guerrero and allowed Springer to advance to third base standing up. Springer beat the throw to third easily, but inexplicably decided to jump up and down on third base as if the play was over, so while he was doing that A's third baseman Max Schuemann tagged him.
Springer was originally called safe because he beat the throw, but after a replay review, it was clear that he lost contact with the bag while jumping up and down, and Schuemann had the tag on him while in the air. As a result, he was called out to end the inning and the Blue Jays rally. The run counted as Guerrero scored before Springer was tagged out, which cut the A's lead to 3-2.

Springer did not argue the call. He could have lost his mind, but he realized he made a silly mistake. We are willing to bet he will not do that again.
Fortunately, Springer's gaffe did not cost the Blue Jays in the end, as they scored six runs in the eighth inning to come away with the 8-4 victory to complete the four-game sweep of the A's and take sole possession of second place in the American League East.
