FOLLOW-UP: Uniform Company Steps Up to End Rough "Ryde" for Theodore Roosevelt High

So, to recap the story we passed along last week, the Theodore Roosevelt (D.C) High basketball team had been playing the 2010-11 season with "Ryders" on the front.  This was a misspelling of the nickname "Riders", which had been on the uniform in prior seasons as it was the common nickname of the school mascot, the Rough Riders.  The unnamed uniform maker claimed that "Ryders" was "the cool way to spell it", and would only replace the uniforms once the misspelled ones were returned.  That would have left Roosevelt without uniforms altogether, and so they were stuck playing out their schedule with the misspelled jerseys.

Fortunately, the uniform company, which still has yet to be named, appears to have come to their senses.  After the Washington Post broke the story last Wednesday (January 19th):
On Friday [January 21st], the vendor who provided Theodore Roosevelt with basketball jerseys emblazoned with "Ryders" - not "Rough Riders," the District high school's nickname - gave the team new home orange jerseys that read "Riders" across the front.
Apparently the public pressure had a lot to do with it:
Calls poured into D.C. Public Schools' central office, as well as [Roosevelt Athletic Directory Daryl] Tilghman's asking how this could be remedied.
"I had so many lawyers calling me," Tilghman said, "you would've thought there were a bunch of ambulances outside my building."
Hence the vendor's trip to Roosevelt on Friday. He also took back the team's road blue jerseys and will have those re-done shortly.
Interestingly enough, we still don't have the name of this company.  However, we would like to applaud them for "manning up" and doing the right thing here.
