Why is Michael Vick Saying "No" to Oprah Winfrey?

Up until now, it seemed that Michael Vick was making all the right moves to rebuild his image.  It seemed that a chat with Oprah Winfrey would be a perfect opportunity to do that.  The interview was scheduled for February 22nd and was scheduled to air next Thursday, but suddenly there was a change of plans:
The Phildaelphia Eagles quarterback canceled his planned interview with Oprah late Tuesday night, one week before he was scheduled to sit down with the talk show legend.
The decision to cancel without giving a reason is a risky move for the Pro Bowl quarterback. Not making an excuse gives people a chance to make one for you, and the most logical one is that Vick and/or his people were worried about what Oprah might ask. For Vick to get back in the good graces of the overall public, it's going to take him answering some tough questions. What better place to do that than on Oprah's couch?
Forgetting the foolishness of passing up an interviewer who would have likely showed him some tough love, Vick is running the risk of making Oprah [Winfrey] upset. That's a no-no. David Letterman found that out the hard way with an innocuous joke on an Oscars telecast that led to Oprah freezing him out for years. Vick may find his way to Chicago yet. After this episode, he may find a less sympathetic interviewer sitting across from him if he does.
Stephen A. Smith said it best yesterday while sitting in on Michael Kay's spot on ESPN Radio New York:  "You don't say No to Oprah."  You have to question who advised him to cancel his appearance, especially without a good reason.
