Video: Benches Clear In San Fran Brawl Between Phillies and Giants

There was a bench clearing brawl in San Francisco last night between the Philadelphia Phillies and the hometown Giants in what seems to be reflective of the higher level of competition between arguably the two best teams in the National League.

In the top of the 6th inning at AT&T Park in San Francisco, the Phillies had an 8-2 lead over the Giants.  Giants pitcher Ramon Ramirez hit Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino in the hip with a pitch.  Victorino thought it was intentional and started walking towards the mound, leading both benches to clear to start the brawl.

Punches were thrown and a couple of fights were occuring on the ground while coaches and other players were trying to separate them.  The AP had these details:
Victorino pushed [home] plate umpire Mike Muchlinski trying to get back into the fray, then was held back by [Giants bench coach Ron] Wotus and Phillies hitting coach Greg Gross.
[Phillies manager Charlie] Manuel got stepped on and somebody pulled on the back of his pants.

Victorino was ejected from the game and is looking at a likely suspension.  Ramirez and Giants catcher Eli Whiteside were also ejected.  Other players and coaches and both teams are probably looking at fines and possible suspensions as well.

If these two teams face each other in the National League playoffs, it could get really interesting.
