In a national championship soccer match in Moldova this past Saturday, Sfintul Gheorge midfielder Julian Bursuc was arguing a linesman's call when the referee came over to join the discussion. Without warning, Bursuc suddenly punches the referee in the face with a right hook.
This happened right in front of a police officer, who took Bursuc off the field. The referee was stunned but stayed on his feet.
Sfintul Gheorge lost the match 3-0, and a few days later, Bursuc announced his retirement from football. Hopefully this will give Bursuc some time to address his anger management issues.
