Jets Attempt Onside Punt Against Giants (Video)

Late in the fourth quarter of today's Giants-Jets game, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was sacked in the end zone for a safety to increase the Giants lead to 22-14. With just over two minutes left and the Jets having only one time out remaining, it looked like all hope was lost as the Jets would have to punt the ball away to the Giants.

However, the Jets tried to get possession of the ball one more time by making the unusual move of attempting an onside punt.

The unusual "onside punt" attempt was handled by Jets kicker Nick Folk, who normally handles kickoff duties. Folk does not handle punts so he probably does not practice punting, let alone attempt an onside punt. Folk did a decent job, however, as the ball bounced like a typical onside kick and both teams had a shot at it, but after touching a Giants player, the ball bounced out of bounds and the Giants took over possession. The Giants then scored a touchdown to make the score 29-14 and put the game out of reach.
