Lakers fire Mike Brown: Was Kobe's 'death stare' the tipping point? (Video)

The Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday that they have fired head coach Mike Brown only five games into the season after a disappointing 1-4 start. You have to wonder if the tipping point in the decision by the Lakers front office was the "death stare" that Kobe Bryant gave to Brown near the end of Wednesday night's loss to the Utah Jazz.

The video went viral and was brought up by the media during Thursday's Lakers practice. Kobe shot down any discussion of a rift between him and Brown and reiterated that he was Brown's "biggest supporter", but you can only speculate what really went down behind closed doors.

  1. 41-25 last year, Pacific Division champions, lost to the eventual Western Conference Champions in the 2nd round and they fire him for starting 1-4, with 77 games to go? There has to be more to it.
