Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard's stick flies into stands (Video)

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard lost his stick and watched it fly over the glass and into the stands during the second period of Saturday night's game against Florida.

Savard lost the grasp on his stick when Panthers forward Marcel Goc accidentally lifted it as both players were fighting for possession of the puck. Savard didn't even try to get the stick back, as he went to the bench during a stoppage of play a few seconds later to get a new stick.

It's not uncommon for hockey pucks to fly into the stands, but we can't recall ever seeing a player's stick end up there. However, to make the story even more unbelievable, the man who claimed Savard's stick was Mike O'Harra, who happens to be the first ever Blue Jackets season ticket holder. Talk about an incredible coincidence.

So O'Harra, the Blue Jackets "First Fan", got to take home Savard's stick as a souvenir and got to watch his favorite team earn a 4-1 victory.  Looks like he had a great night.
