Red Sox reliever makes worst pickoff throw ever (Video)

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Edward Mujica made possibly the worst pickoff throw ever during Saturday's game at Fenway Park against Detroit.

Mujica had just came into the game in the top of the sixth with one out and Tigers runner Rajai Davis on second base. After throwing his first pitch, Mujica attempted to pick off Davis at second base. Mujica's pickoff throw was so bad that not only did it sail about 15 feet wide of second base (to the first base side), but it nearly hit second base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt in the head. Fortunately Wendelstedt was alert and able to duck to avoid the throw.

Mujica was charged with an error on the throw (obviously). Davis made it to third easily and came around to score on a sacrifice fly a few pitches later. Mujica was taken out of the game after closing out the inning while throwing only eight pitches total. The Tigers beat the Red Sox 6-1.
