Former Baseball Manager Bobby Valentine Directing Traffic in Stamford, CT

Watching WCBS-TV news coverage of the after-effects of the winter storm that hit the Northeast Wednesday night / Thursday morning.  They showed coverage of I-95 in the Stamford, Connecticut area, which looks like a parking lot because no traffic is able to moving after 12+ inches of snow hit last night.  The cameraman was able to catch Bobby Valentine, former (and possibly future) baseball manager, directing traffic near one of the I-95 on-ramps in Stamford.  The newswoman on the scene was able to have a quick interview with him.

Bobby Valentine's appearance on the streets of Stamford was not a pure coincidence.  Earlier this month, Stamford mayor Michael Pavia named Valentine to his cabinet as the city's director of public health and safety.  He earns $10,000 a year in this role, which he plans to give to charity.  Valentine is a lifelong resident of Stamford, and it's nice to see him giving back to his hometown (and clearly taking his job very seriously, based on the scene that just took place).
