Jason Smith ejected for body checking Blake Griffin to the floor (Video)

During the fourth quarter of last night's NBA game in New Orleans, Hornets forward Jason Smith found a way to stop Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin from dunking on him on a fast break: Smith body-checked Griffin to the floor like a hockey player.

Smith was given a flagrant level 2 foul by the officials, which resulted in an automatic ejection from the game. No doubt a fine and a suspension of a game or two will follow as well.

I especially like how Smith completely decks Griffin, then immediately puts his hands up as if to say "Oops!" Smith also waved his arms up and down to get the crowd going and gave a fan a high-five on the way to the locker room.

It's almost as if Smith took the speech Samuel L. Jackson gave during the player introductions a little too close to heart.

The Hornets won the game 97-90. The teams play each other again on Tuesday in Los Angeles. We'll see if any bad blood carries over to that game.
