Bob Costas tears apart Pedro Strop after blown save (Video)

Bob Costas may have gone a bit too far in attacking Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop after his blown save in Friday night's game in St. Louis.

Strop came into the game in the eighth inning with a 2-1 lead and immediately gave up a game-tying home run. He was taken out after facing four batters and recording only one out while also walking a batter and hitting another with a pitch. Strop pointed towards the sky as he was taken out, and Costas, who was broadcasting the game live on MLB Network, used the opportunity to let it rip:

"Strop is on his way out, pointing toward the heavens. We can only...wonder that he is asking some departed relative for forgiveness for this atrocious performance."

Wow. That's really harsh. Was it really that bad? It's not like Strop blew a lead of five runs or more, and he did record an out. We've seen a lot worse from relief pitchers.

This seemed very out of character for Costas. It was almost as bad as Joe Buck going out of his way to rip Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel during a game that he wasn't playing in.

H/T LBS.
