Ryan Johansen smashes Mark Scheifele in head with high stick (Video)

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen smashed Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele in the head with a high stick during Thursday night's NHL game at the Bridgestone Arena.

It happened at about the 16:30 mark of the first period as Johansen and Scheifele were fighting for the puck in the corner of the Predators zone. As Scheifele tapped the puck over to a teammate along the boards, Johansen spun around and whacked Scheifele with a tomahawk chop using his stick.

The referees stopped play immediately and sent Johansen to the penalty box for two minutes for high sticking. There was no way that they could miss this one.

Fortunately, Scheifele was not seriously hurt and stayed in the game. He got the last laugh as the Jets beat the Predators 5-1.
