Islanders fans boo John Tavares, call him nasty names

John Tavares - Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar John Tavares returned to Brooklyn Thursday night for the first time since leaving the New York Islanders as a free agent during the offseason. The Islanders fans still had some sore feelings, and in the opening minute of the game, they made Tavares knew it.

Not only did the Isles fans boo him very loudly when he took an early faceoff, but they also started an "a-hole" chant.

However, the Islanders fans seemed to get the nastiness out of their system in the early part of the game. Later on, a video tribute to Tavares was shown on the jumbotron, and the fans gave him a more positive reception.

Tavares was held without a point in the game, while the Islanders blew out the Maple Leafs 6-1, giving the hometown fans a small measure of revenge.
