Boxer Curtis Harper walks out of ring after opening bell (Video)

A shocking scene unfolded Friday night at the Armory in Minneapolis when a boxer walked out of the ring just as the opening bell rang to start his fight.

Curtis Harper appeared ready to take on undefeated top prospect Efe Ajagba in a six-round heavyweight match as part of the Premier Boxing Champions card. Both fighters were introduced to the crowd, came to the center of the ring for instructions from the referee, then went back to their corners for the start of the fight. However, when the opening bell rang, Harper stepped through the ropes and out of the ring, taking a long walk of shame back up the ramp and towards the locker room.

Naturally, Ajagba was declared the winner by disqualification. According to the books, the match lasted one second.

PBC reporter caught up with Harper after the "match", where he said he wasn't getting paid enough and wanted respect:

If respect is what Harper was looking for, it's going to be much harder to earn it after this stunt.
