Carlos Gomez nearly hits HR while falling

New York Mets center fielder Carlos Gomez nearly hit a home run while falling backwards during Sunday's game against Colorado.

It happened in the bottom of the second inning with the Mets already holding a 3-0 lead. Gomez lost his footing and fell to a knee as he swung at the 0-1 pitch, but still managed to have enough power on contact to hit the ball deep towards the left field corner. The momentum of the swing threw Gomez off balance as he used his arm to hold himself up as he fell to his left side while watching the ball slice foul into the seats.

Gomez ended up striking out on the at-bat, but finished 1-for-3 with an RBI single as the Mets beat the Rockies 6-1.
