Young girl runs onto field at minor league baseball game

Little girl runs onto field during Asheville-Charleston minor league baseball game

A little girl ran onto the field during Saturday's Class A minor league baseball game between the Asheville Tourists (affiliates of the Colorado Rockies) and Charleston RiverDogs (affiliates of the New York Yankees).

It happened in the bottom of the third as Asheville was up 1-0 but Charleston had the bases loaded and no outs. The count was 2-1 when the home plate umpire called time as the young girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old, found her way through the Charleston bullpen and ran through the outfield.

Asheville right fielder Daniel Montano was kind enough to help point her in the right direction, and some ushers came to get her off the field.

You certainly don't see that every day. Although clearly no one was in danger in this situation, and it was cute to watch, you have to wonder how this happened.

It can be argued that the little girl brought some luck to the home team, as Charleston proceeded to score 4 runs in the inning and went on to win the game 7-4.
