Karel Vejmelka awful giveaway leads to Flyers open net goal

Karel Vejmelka laments bad pass leading to Flyers open net goal, Flyers vs Coyotes 12/11/2021
Arizona Coyotes goaltender Karel Vejmelka made an awful mistake that led to an open-net goal for the Philadelphia Flyers during Saturday night's NHL game at the Gila River Arena.

It happened just past the midway point of the second period with the score tied at 2-2. The Flyers had just knocked the puck out of their defensive zone and down the ice. Vejmelka came way out of the net thinking he had plenty of time to pass it across the ice to defenseman Anton Stralman. Unfortunately, Vejmelka didn't notice Flyers center Patrick Brown skating down the middle of the ice. It led to disaster for the Coyotes as Vejmelka made a bad pass that went right to Brown, who shot the puck right into the empty net for the unassisted goal that gave the Flyers the lead.

The play gave the Flyers the momentum they needed, as they scored a power play goal just over a minute later to take full control as they went on to beat the Coyotes 5-3. As for Vejmelka, we don't think he'll make that mistake again.
