In National Lacrosse League action, Buffalo Bandits forward Chase Fraser punched Saskatchewan Rush defenseman Mike Messenger in the groin during Saturday's deciding Game 3 of the NLL Finals at the KeyBank Center.
It happened at the 7:56 mark of the fourth quarter with Buffalo leading 13-6. Fraser was taken down from behind by Rush defenseman Connor McClelland, but managed to get a shot off on net which was saved by goaltender Frank Scigliano. However, as he got to his knees, Fraser retaliated with a punch to the groin of Messenger, who happened to be standing in front of Fraser.
Although play was already stopped due to the save of Fraser's shot, the official blew the whistle again after Fraser's low blow. Fraser was sent to the penalty box for two minutes.
Due to the rough nature of lacrosse, it can be easy to be overcome by emotion, especially with a league championship on the line. However, you have to keep your cool. Low blows are not the way to express your anger.
Buffalo went on to win the game 15-6, wrapping up the series 2 games to 1 and taking home their third straight NLL Championship.
